Restoration Companies make money cleaning things and making it harder for you to prove your damages. Not to mention that when they clean your TV and charge your insurer $75, they make $75 and their friend, your adjuster, only pays $75 as opposed to $300 for you to buy a new TV. Restoration companies won’t tell you that they can clean something actually burnt in a fire, but we have seen them try to clean a TV that was under water. They always error on the side of restoration as opposed to replace, since they make no money if they put an item on the replacement list. If you read your policy, you will see that there is no mention of insurance company adjusters in it. There is no requirement that they send one out. No requirement that they prepare estimate of damages to your building or personal property. No requirement for them to clean up the mess or board up your building. So why do they pay large sums of money to keep adjusters on the payroll? Could it be that they know that most people don’t know how to identify all the damages and don’t know how to submit a proper insurance claim, thereby letting their adjusters determine how much you will receive?

Could it be that you are in a very vulnerable state and they know that this is the best way to save the insurer money? Do they know that they can play on your weaknesses and wish to get back into your home or reopen your business quickly, where they will only pay for quick fixes, as opposed to proper repairs? Otherwise, why wouldn’t they just fire most of their adjusters and just have a couple of them sitting in an office reviewing whatever you submit? There must be a reason that they pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep a staff of adjusters available. And if you think about it, it is not so you can get more money.
